We have a stone building (circa 1900) that is in dire need of cleaning. What is the best time of year to schedule cleaning?

This will depend in which climate your building is located. If located in the northern hemisphere never schedule cleaning during the winter months since freezing temperature can cause the stone to spall. The best times are in late spring or early fall.

If your building is located in a semi-tropical or tropical climate never schedule cleaning during the hottest summer months. The heat will cause the cleaning chemicals to evaporate too rapidly. Best time for scheduling would be winter, spring or late fall.

TIP: When working with any Historical building it is best to contact an Architectural Conservator, Restoration Architect or stone restoration contractor trained in historical property preservation. To find a qualified professional near you, contact us.
