removing scratch marks from travertine floor

Q. i have a customer with a scratched travertine entry floor. She sanded out the scratch marks but now has honed/dull lines. She would like to do the repairs herself. Any suggestions. Can she work her way up using higher and higher grit sandpaper?

A. This isn't really a do it yourself job, and I would strongly urge her to leave this kind of work to a professional. However, she can try using wet sandpaper starting with about a 120 and working up to an 800 or so. Then she can attempt to polish it with a marble polishing powder. Should she decide to use a reputable experience contractor, contact us to find one in your area.
