Refinishing

Is your marble floor too dull or too shiny? If you have a new floor with some tiles that look more glossy than others – let us even out the finish for you. We can deliver a beautifully restored gloss, semi-gloss or matte marble finish.

Honing

Does your marble floor have dull areas associated with wear patterns, scratches, etches or spots? SurpHaces can hone your marble surfaces to eliminate these imperfections, resulting in a new marble surface free of damage. With our marble honing services, our expert technicians can achieve a honed or soft matte finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth.

Polishing

An uneven finish, dull spots or etches can diminish the elegant appearance of your marble floors and surfaces. SurpHaces can polish your marble using the appropriate diamond-infused pads or polishing powders to restore the finish you want, whether matte, semi-gloss or gloss finish. With our marble polishing services, our expert technicians can achieve the exact finish you are looking for.

Grinding and Lippage Removal

Are your marble tiles uneven? Do you want your tile floor flattened to the grout lines to facilitate easier cleaning? SurpHaces can grind away the excess stone (a process called lippage removal) to create a flat, level surface using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology. Once ground to the level and shape desired, the marble is honed and polished to the finish you want.

Repair and Tile Replacement

Do you have chipped marble tiles? Are there cracks in your floor? What about broken marble tiles? Before you replace your marble, consider having us provide expert marble repair services. SurpHaces can fill holes in marble, fix marble cracks and chips, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, and honing and polishing it to match the finish on the rest of your marble floor, countertop or other stone surface.

Although it is rare for a marble tile to be beyond repair, sometimes tile replacement is necessary. The craftsman at SurpHaces can, in many cases, remove your affected tile without damaging neighboring tiles, reinstall the new tile, level the installed tile with the surrounding area, and then match the finish as closely as possible.

Stain Removal

SurpHaces can remove marble stains, as well as marble discolorations. Whether you are seeking guidance on how to do this yourself or want SurpHaces to treat your marble, the original finish of your stone can be restored.

Cleaning and Sealing

Marble cleaning processes vary based on the surface condition and type of dirt or oil being removed. Marble is easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services, using non-acidic, highly-effective cleaning solutions. Once your marble floors, showers, tub surrounds, walls, and other marble surfaces are cleaned and restored, we highly recommend you have us seal them to enhance their stain resistance. Most stones are naturally porous. If left unsealed, there’s always a risk of spilling something that might discolor your stone. While most stains can be removed, marble stain removal can be a time consuming, expensive and often frustrating process. Why not take advantage of this simple, inexpensive, preventative measure against marble stain damage?

Scheduled Maintenance

Regular cleaning and janitorial services are valuable for simple, day-to-day care of marble floors. But over time, their processes leave floors with grout lines that just won’t come clean, shiny scratches, and increasingly obvious traffic patterns. As these problems develop, you become more and more dissatisfied with the appearance of the floors until it’s time for another round of professional restoration. With our regularly scheduled maintenance program, your floors can look great all the time, without the need for periodic restoration.

Travertine

The Look You Want For Your Travertine

Travertine is a unique and versatile stone, suitable for a wide range of decorative styles, from rugged and rustic old world charm to stunning, high-polished modern elegance. However, your travertine can become dirty or dull-looking, scratched, etched, cracked, chipped, or otherwise damaged with time and use. If this is true of your travertine, don’t replace it! SurpHaces can restore your travertine, not just making it look better, but making it look brand new again.

To Fill Or Not To Fill

Travertine in its original state has naturally occurring holes throughout. Part of travertine’s unique appeal is that it is available in two distinct forms — filled and unfilled. In “filled” travertine, a color-matched material is used at the factory to fill the holes, giving the stone a smooth finish. In “unfilled” travertine the natural holes remain exposed for a rustic, earthy finish. Both filled and unfilled travertine are beautiful in their own right, and both offer their own particular look and feel. If you have unfilled travertine, or the holes in your filled travertine have become exposed, and you want the holes to be filled, we can perform this service for you.

Filling Holes In Travertine: Floating

While this term may bring to mind inflatable lounge chairs or rubber duckies, travertine floating really has nothing to do with bodies of water. It is the process used to either change unfilled travertine surfaces to the smooth appearance of filled travertine or to repair filled travertine surfaces whose holes have become exposed due to time and wear. For repairs, we use filler tinted to match the rest of the surface, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, then honing and polishing to achieve a uniform finish. Changing a completely unfilled surface to a filled one is basically the same process, but offers a broader array of design choices, since you are not limited to a color that matches an existing filler.

Refinishing Travertine

Refinishing is similar to floating in that we can restore a finish that is uneven or has become dulled by wear, scratches or other surface damage. We can also alter the finish entirely if you’re looking for a change of pace. SurpHaces is well versed in the types of finishes possible, as well as experienced in the techniques required to achieve them.

Travertine Grinding / Lippage Removal

Whether you want a floor that is flush with its grout lines for easier cleaning, or need to remedy uneven tiles that can be hazardous as well as unattractive, SurpHaces can take care of that for you. Using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology, we can remove excess stone to create a flat, level surface. Once the uneven tiles are leveled (this is called lippage removal), the travertine is honed and polished to your desired finish.

Travertine Honing & Polishing

SurpHaces can hone your travertine surfaces to eliminate surface imperfections such as dull spots, scratches, etching and other wear and tear, resulting in a damage free surface that looks like new again. With the damage erased, our expert technicians can polish your travertine using the appropriate diamond-infused pads or polishing powders, achieving a honed (soft matte) finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth, a gorgeous glass-like polish, or something in between that suits your taste.

Deep Cleaning Soiled Travertine

While any travertine surface can become dirty and grimy with use, unfilled travertine with its naturally varying surface texture and inherent holes can be particularly challenging once dirt has had time to accumulate in the hollows and low points. Not to worry, though, because SurpHaces can remove deeply imbedded soiling, strip away years of buildup of unsightly topical treatments, remove soap film in showers, get rid of soot on fireplaces, and resolve a host of other travertine cleaning problems, leaving your stone as pristine as the day it was installed.

Sealing Travertine

Once your travertine floors, showers, tub surrounds, walls, and other travertine surfaces are cleaned and restored, we highly recommend you have your travertine sealed to help inhibit staining. Like all natural stone, travertine is naturally porous and quick to absorb staining agents. It’s true most stains can be resolved, but who wants to go to all that trouble, expense and frustration when it can easily be avoided? A thorough professional sealing is a good, inexpensive way to head stains off at the pass.

Travertine Color Enhancing

Travertine is characterized by its neutral earthtone colors. For certain types of travertine, our skilled technicians can apply an enhancing sealer to intensify the color and enrich its natural beauty.

Travertine Stain Removal

Sometimes, in spite of your best efforts, stains happen. That’s the time to call SurpHaces. Whether you’re looking for DIY advice or want to hand the mess off to us, we’re happy to tell you that most stains and discolorations can be resolved.

Travertine Repairs

Before you replace your chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged travertine, talk to us about our expert travertine repair services. SurpHaces can fill holes and fix travertine cracks and chips, blending the repair site with the surrounding area, then honing and polishing it to match the overall finish of the rest of your travertine floor, countertop or other travertine surface.

Replacing Travertine Tiles

It’s rare to find travertine that is damaged so severely it cannot be repaired, but every so often we encounter a tile that just has to be replaced. Don’t worry, we can handle it. SurpHaces can replace your tile, using extra care to avoid damaging neighboring tiles, then level the replacement tile with its neighbors, and match the surrounding finish as closely as possible. Do be aware though — unless you have extra tiles on hand from the original batch, replacement tiles may be noticeably different. Because travertine is a natural stone, even tiles from the same quarry and with the same designation can vary in color and appearance as time passes and the quarry line shifts.

Scheduled Maintenance For Your Travertine

For travertine surfaces with high traffic and use, routinely scheduled maintenance services are highly recommended to keep your travertine looking its best. SurpHaces is happy to provide these services for you.

SurpHaces provides expert interior and exterior travertine services, for all kinds of properties, from homes, apartments, and condos to offices and other commercial properties, warehouses, retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and more. Whether you need minor services like having your travertine cleaned and sealed or major services like extensive repair and restoration, we provide a full range of travertine care and maintenance services.

Granite

Cleaning, Sealing, and Rejuvenating Your Granite

Granite, one of the world’s hardest materials, is a stone of choice for kitchen countertops, not only because it is gorgeous, but because it is resistant to most acids, very durable, and easy to maintain. Even so, granite is not impervious to damage. If your granite is dirty or dull-looking, scratched, etched, cracked, chipped or otherwise damaged, SurpHaces can make it look brand new again!

Much harder than marble, granite is a rugged and resilient stone that requires specialized knowledge and equipment to restore. We understand granite’s unyielding personality and have the right tools and techniques to get it looking its absolute best once more. From minor services like having your granite floors or granite countertops polished to major services like a complete granite floor or granite countertop repair and restoration, our professional technicians can perform these services for you.

Grinding and Flattening

Are your tiles uneven? Do you want your granite tile floor flattened to the grout lines to facilitate easier cleaning? We can grind away the excess stone to create a flat, level surface using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology. This process is also known as lippage removal. Once your granite surface is level, it is then given the finish you choose — honed (matte finish) or high-polish or somewhere in between.

Honing

Do your granite floors or granite countertops have dull areas associated with wear patterns, scratches, etches or spots? We can hone your granite surfaces to eliminate these imperfections, resulting in a new granite surface free of damage. With our granite honing services, our expert technicians can achieve a honed or soft matte finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth.

Impregnating and Sealing

Once your granite floors, granite countertops, granite walls, and other granite surfaces are restored, we highly recommend sealing your granite to enhance its stain resistance. Left unsealed, there’s always a risk that it will absorb spilled or splattered staining agents, discoloring your beautiful stone. Most granite stains can be removed, but granite stain removal can be time consuming, expensive and often frustrating. Having your granite countertops, floors, walls or other surfaces sealed represents an inexpensive way to help prevent granite staining damage.

Deep Cleaning

Granite cleaning processes vary based on the surface condition and type of dirt, oil or other contaminant being removed. Granite is easier to keep clean with periodic professional deep cleaning services that utilize non-acidic, highly-effective cleaning solutions. Our expert craftsman can, in many cases, remove your affected tile without damaging neighboring granite tiles, reinstall the new tile, level the installed tile with the surrounding area, and then match the finish as closely as possible.

Regular cleaning and janitorial services are valuable for simple, day-to-day care of granite floors. The honed or polished end result will look as good or better than when the floor was first installed.

Onyx Honing & Polishing

A calcium-based stone, onyx reacts to acids found in lemon, wine, cleaners, and other substances, which can result in etch marks on the stone’s surface. Flagstone

We Resolve Flagstone Problems

We can resolve almost any problems associated with your flagstone surfaces, such as moss and mold, efflorescence, pitting and flaking, scratches or other damage. We can also apply color enhancing or topical sealers to achieve the finish you desire.

It is important to note that “flagstone” is not one specific type of stone, but rather the style or pattern of a particular installation. Stones that are most commonly cut into flagstones include slate, bluestone, quartzite, limestone, or sandstone. The flagstones themselves are generally between 3/8” and 1” in thickness and come in cleft and honed finishes. Interior flagstones may also be given a polished finish, but exterior ones typically are not. Flagstones as a whole are quite durable, but some stones are, of course harder than others. A comprehensive knowledge of the compositions and requirements of specific stone types is one of the advantages of having our expert technicians care for your flagstone surfaces.

Sealing & Enhancing Flagstone

Because exterior flagstones are commonly exposed to all sorts of conditions, including wet ones, it may be a good idea to have your flagstone installation sealed to help prevent the damage that can be caused by excessive moisture. Sealing your interior flagstone is definitely recommended since, indoors or out, sealing can inhibit staining. Not only can flagstone installations be sealed, they can even be color-enhanced to make the natural colors of your flagstone emerge more vibrantly.

Efflorescence & Spalling

One difficulty related to moisture is efflorescence, which is caused by moisture drawing mineral salts from or through your flagstone and then evaporating, leaving salt deposits behind. At its worst, efflorescence can evolve into disintegration (also known as pitting or spalling) of the stone — chips start to appear and flaking occurs on the surface. These issues can be resolved by our experienced technicians, but preventing them by proper sealing before they ever start, is preferable.

Flagstone Cleaning

The majority of flagstone installations are outdoors, and as such they are exposed to all kinds of dirt, grime and contaminants, including things like moss and mold growth. We have the knowledge and experience to thoroughly clean and restore your flagstone surfaces to like-new or better condition.

Cleft Finish Expertise

In the wrong hands, your beautiful cleft surfaces can be easily damaged during deep cleaning or restoration. SurpHaces has the knowledge and expertise to ensure the lasting beauty of your installation. We are always available to answer any questions and to discuss the specific requirements of your unique flagstone surfaces.

SurpHaces not only provides these services and more, we are also happy to discuss your specific needs and educate you on the best way to care for your flagstone surfaces, whether interior or exterior.

Slate

Slate Enhancing, Stripping, Cleaning, Sealing and More…

Slate floors can be showstoppers — in a good way or a bad one. Beautiful, well-maintained slate creates a positive impression with the perfect blend of elegance and informality, but slate that is dull, chipped, scratched, or otherwise damaged creates quite the opposite impression.

Slate is a unique stone, and restoration methods for slate are very different than that of marble or granite. If you have slate floors that need some professional attention, they should not be entrusted to just any stone restoration contractor.

The highly trained technicians at SurpHaces have the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to resolve virtually any problems associated with your slate floors, walls, or other slate surfaces, and can apply color enhancing or topical sealers to achieve the finish you desire.

Slate Cleaning and Restoration

Over time, thick layers of soap residue, waxes, and other topical coatings can dull and hide the beautiful inherent colors and bold charm of your slate floors and surfaces. We can strip away this dull buildup, as well as the dirt and contaminants it often traps, to reveal the naturally stunning surface underneath.

Slate Repairs

If your slate surfaces have become cracked, chipped, scratched, or otherwise damaged, SurpHaces can resolve these issues, most often without need of replacement. We can also take care of any grout problems you may have with our deep-cleaning, sealing and repair services.

Cleft Finish Slate Expertise

In the wrong hands, your beautiful cleft slate surfaces can be easily damaged during deep cleaning or restoration. SurpHaces has the knowledge of and expertise in the proper equipment, techniques and powders needed to ensure the lasting beauty of your installation. We are always available to answer any questions and to discuss the specific requirements of your unique slate surfaces.

Sealing and Protecting Slate

Most — though not all — varieties of slate are virtually waterproof. This may mean sealing your slate is unnecessary, but it doesn’t necessarily mean sealing is undesirable. There are color enhancing sealers and coatings which can make the natural colors of your slate surfaces emerge more vibrantly. And, of course, for those types of slate which are not as waterproof as they could be, applying a sealer can further support their resistance to staining agents and weather conditions.

SurpHaces not only provides these services, we are also happy to discuss your specific needs and educate you on the best way to care for your unique slate type and installation. We are proud to recommend and supply stone-safe solutions for your regular cleaning and maintenance needs as well.

Cantera

Specialized Care for Cantera

Cantera is a uniquely beautiful quarried volcanic rock. It is (relatively speaking) soft stone, which makes it ideal for decorative areas, such as fountains, door frames, range hoods, balustrades, fireplaces, pool copings and surrounds, tiles, columns and more. It can also be quite susceptible to scratching, scuffing and dulling, particularly in areas of high use. Nevertheless, it is a durable as well as beautiful stone and, like all natural stone, can almost always be restored, rather than needing to be replaced.

At SurpHaces, we have the knowledge and expertise to restore your Cantera surfaces to a like new appearance, virtually erasing damage. We can even change a polished finish to a honed one or honed to highly polished so your unique Cantera surfaces can remain in line with your changing needs or tastes. From deep cleaning and sealing to repair and tile replacement and more, we can service all your Cantera needs.

Grinding and Lippage Removal

Are your Cantera tiles uneven, or the grout lines too deep to facilitate easy cleaning? SurpHaces can create a flat, level surface using state-of-the art diamond grinding technology in a process called lippage removal. Once your surface is the level and shape desired, we will hone and polish your Cantera to the finish you desire.

Honing Cantera

Whether your Cantera surfaces have dull areas associated with wear patterns, scratches, or spots, or you simply wish to change them to a non-glossy finish, the expert technicians at SurpHaces have you covered. With our Cantera honing services, we can remove damage and achieve a honed or soft matte finish that is warm, inviting, and velvety smooth.

Cantera Polishing

Has the sparkling appearance of your polished Cantera surfaces become dulled from wear and tear? Did you start out with a warm matte finish, but now want to up the elegance factor with a highly polished one instead? SurpHaces combines the appropriate diamonds, polishing powders, and techniques with years of expertise to restore or change your finish to the beautiful, glass-like polish you desire.

Deep Cleaning and Sanitizing

Cleaning processes for Cantera vary based on the surface condition and type of dirt or oil being removed. We recommend periodic professional deep cleaning services, using pH-neutral, highly-effective cleaning solutions designed specifically for natural stone. Our deep-cleaning and other natural stone services can bring your Cantera surfaces to a like-new spotless state. We can also educate you on the proper day-to-day cleaning and care of your Cantera surfaces so they can look their best all the time.

Stain Removal

The unique composition of Cantera enables it to absorb dampness and humidity without expansion, which makes it a natural choice for wet applications such as fountains, baths, pool surrounds and so on. However, it is exceptionally porous and easily absorbs spills, staining agents and other contaminants. In most cases, stains can be removed with some time, effort, professional products and the appropriate stain removal methods.

Sealing Cantera

Once your Cantera fountains, showers, tub or pool surrounds, walls, and other surfaces have been deep-cleaned, had stains removed, and had any other damage repaired and restored, we highly recommend you have us seal your stone to enhance stain resistance. While most stains can eventually be removed, this process can be time consuming, expensive and often frustrating. Sealing represents an inexpensive and practical way to protect your Cantera surfaces from stain damage.

Quartz & Engineered Stone

Worn, Damaged Quartz Surfaces Like New Again

The industry has been changing over the past few decades and new engineered stone products, also known as quartz surfaces, such as Cambria, LG Viatera, Zodiaq, and countless others are now found in kitchens, baths, and other applications in homes and businesses across the country.

Quartz surfaces are popular because they are harder than granite, easy to clean, and look great for a long time. While many of these products are often sold as “maintenance free,” quartz is not indestructible. With extensive use, quartz surfaces can eventually become scratched, stained, or otherwise damaged. Fortunately, most of these problems can be corrected with our professional restoration services.
